Rom-Coms offer a little something for all, laughter, romance and sometimes drama. I don’t know
about you, but I certainly feel a range of emotions when I watch a Rom-Com. Whether you are partnered, or single a good Rom-Com goes down well with a hot beverage and some unhealthy snacks! The following are my top 5 favourite rom-coms:
1. Sleepless in Seattle
I find Sleepless in Seattle incredibly adorable. The scene at the end when The Guy and The Girl meet at the top of the Empire State Building because the guy’s son wanted his father to find someone new after losing his mother makes my heart melt every time I watch this classic. Can someone meet me at the top of the Sydney Tower please ?!?
2. 10 Things I Hate About You
A bit of Shakespeare never hurts, right? This movie is a modern take on the famous writer’s Taming of the Shrew, in combination with your classic teen movie feel.I don’t care what y’all say, but this was Heath Ledger’s best movie.
3. Alex Strangelove
I really enjoyed this movie because it’s a light-hearted approach to what is essentially a serious journey that some people undertake, and that is accepting your sexuality.Love is Love!
4. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
If you have not watched this iconic film… DO! Whenever I am feeling a little down and out, this is the movie I turn to.“What do you mean he don’t eat no meat?” “Oh, that’s okay, I make lamb!”
5. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
I love the approach the writers took in this movie, even though Kate Hudson’s character initially dates Matthew McConaughey’s character for her magazine. The dynamic between the two is wonderful and funny. The classic cliche where the boy chases after the girl to tell her he loves her is soo romantic! If not the Sydney Tower, maybe chase me down the Harbour Bridge? Work with me here people!
(Bonus) The First Wives ClubOk this one is not a romance, in fact, it is the perfect anti-romance comedy that deals with moving on from a marriage in a kick-ass way!Bette Midler is in this movie, enough said! What is your favourite Rom-Com?
